I have above nearly 3 years now and from (talked about this before) the beginning all the rings go to high and the fan cuts it down to a lower temperature resulting in quite slow to start boiling. It tells you this in the manual.

Is there anyway I could get a professional to rip the fan out.

Why didn't you deal with it when you first got it?
Jj are they halogen (glowing red) rings? And by cooling, do you mean they go off and then come back on?
It sounds sounds like a thermostatic cut off to me.

Yes Zacs - glowing red and underneath glass you can see like 4 rings light up then after maybe 30-40 seconds down to 2 rings and so it goes on throughout the cooking.
Question Author
Eccles if it is a cut-off - is that right or wrong then.
They're meant to do that, it's how they maintain their temperature for controlled cooking. On our Neff hob we have two rings which heat up v quick and two which only heat up slowly.

Well Zacs - at least you have quick and slow. Mine are up and down which is a pain.

Mine also do this to a point, they glow fully red at the start and then as temp is reached the lights dim - if you are constantly picking up pan and looking underneath then replacing it you will get variations.

If you have a pot of soup for example simmering, does it keep going off the simmer?

If so then there may be a problem.
Question Author
Mamy what you describe is correct for my cooker. Lights up then dimmer - no - doesn't cut out after simmer. That rhymes LOL

I have cooked okay for the 3 last years but definitely would have liked more control of temperature.
