I have had this shower for about just over six years, but now it's started to go cold then hot I don't know whats going wrong.
I am trying to get the front of the shower cover off,but can't get the dials off the front of the shower.
Does anyone on theanswerbank have any ideas.

Thankyou for any help.

Before you do anything.... remember that the power supply to this shower is 8.5 kw .. enough to give you a shock and kill you stone dead. The Mira Zest has 2 screws on the top of the case .. when these are removed the whole front cover witll pull away and give access to the inards. Before you do anything your fault describes what will happen when the thermal cut out...

I have one too- same age too. As yours would be too - mine it is linked to electricity in my back bedroom. Am wondering would you need a new fuse in the plug. That's my input - sorry

If you don't get answers which you will here - I will contact my plumber nephew. It will be trivial I bet.
Well kendoddy - just rang nephew on mobile - he knew right away - he said my shower is nowhere like yours - we take it your is just an electric shower but mine is a power.

I told him about the difficulty re front and dials etc. He said if those showers are over 3 years old - it is finished - by the time you get a plumber out etc - you would be better buying a new one. Sorry for the bad news. Doddy

pied piper I was trying to read to him exactly what dodd was saying - he was under the impression it is just an ordinary electric shower. NOT A POWER SHOWER which is far far more expensive.

But hopefully for doddy's sake he will get good advice here as I do.
dodd in the course of the conversation when I said about the dials in the initial conversation - I coulda picked this up (corned beef/deaf) he said there may be a little screw under the dials - would that help. He said inside all there is where it has broken down.
and don't say a word about my wee nephew pied piper. He is never out of work and he too is a chronic diabetic and works all the hours God's sends him.
sorry for making that phone call for you Doddy - again this is what you get. But good luck in getting fixed.

I have looked for any screws jennyjoan but there are none,I will try and pull them off,and if there are no loose wiresI will get a new one from B & Q

Thankyou for your help much appreciated
thanks doddy for best answer - since you are going to have to B&Q after all. All's well that ends well.

Before you do anything your fault describes what will happen when the thermal cut out takes over and cuts the supply to the element causing the water to run cold.
The answer may be to simply turn the control dial anti clockwise and then gradually turn it back until the desired temperature is reached.
If that doesn't solve it I would buy a new one myself and then get a plumber to replace it.

oh god - when my power shower was put in by another plumber - he wired the bits and bits to my back room. My heating of the water is my oil. If the oild doesn't be on - then I cold water - if the heating is one I get lovely warm water.
^^^oh go no

Thankyou alvahalf,I dont think we have a Plumbworld in Eastbourne,East Sussex,so it will have to be B & Q
Also thankyou for the tips about taking the shower cover off,and the electricity live wire.

Thankyou for your help much appreciated
Homer has covered all this well, as always. I just wanted to add that Mira have an excellent technical and after-sales team if you decide to repair the Zest.
Question Author
Thankyou The Builder,I will try and turn the water dial down to cool then turn it uo to normal again and see if that makes any difference,if not I will go to B & Q and buy a new one,I don't think its worth repairing.

Thankyou for your help much appreciated
Sorry forgot to mention that Plumbworld are internet based and have no stores. They just have a good offer on the shower that you own. If you do need to replace the shower, the best thing you can do is swap like for like. If no wiring or plumbing needs to be altered then it shouldn't take more than 20 mins.
