How Diligent Are You With Security

I'm just watching a programme on house security. I'm quite aware of checking all the Windows and doors are locked before I go to bed, or ask those still up to check them all. Do you all go through that routine, or are you a bit forgetful laid back about it ?

No...it's me.

I grew up in houses with yale locked doors. So unless you took it off the latch it was always locked. I just haven't managed to get in the habit of locking the UPVC door and remembering I have to take the key out if the kids are not home.

I usually leave the windows open but if someone tried to get in they'd make a racket as they are quite small.

My son locks the door but if he isn't home I forget.

WE were burgled not too long ago so you'd think I'd learn!!!

I know exactly what you mean. Had a new doors fitted and it did take some getting used to the different way they locked!

I sometimes leave notes for burglars telling them the most convenient time to break and enter so as not to disturb me.

I'm very good and have decent neighbours we tend to look out for each other.

Many years ago my Brother quipped "If you get burgled they'd probably leave you a few quid."

We default to locked at all times and if they've been opened, windows are locked as they are closed. OH locks up as a matter of habit when we go to bed but we do have a key in a strategically placed position, out of sight, to allow me to sleep safe in the knowledge that I can get out if I need to.

At home I seriously don't even bother locking the door, you can hear the dogs go off if there's anyone about and it's so wild and dark outside anyone would break their neck if they tried to break in.

Just a few weeks ago, a dear friend was broken into whilst he, his wife and son slept.
Car keys, handbags, money and jewellery and then the car.
They slept through it all.

2. the cameras on - floodlights, uv and infra-red.
3. triple locks down and doors cross-checked
4. trip-wires raised
5. tank traps initiated
6. bears in the pits ready.
7. machine guns primed and so too, grenades.
8. bazooka safety catch off
9. graveyard alerted for watch and booing
10. the altar and gurney prepped and grave exposed.

Life in the Cornish country - I think I am prepped.
