We have had a self sown plant (weed?) in our garden, which grew to about 5-6ft high, it does not have hollow stems and the leaves are different to hogweed, but the flower looks similar although pink instead of white. No idea what it is, but since my other half cut it down (now burnt it), he has had a rash all up his arms and on his face (probably from touching his face). I haven't a clue what this plant is and cannot find anything similar online, does anyone have any suggestions please

I'd have a look at the umbellifer family of plants.

Is it comfrey? They have tiny hairs on them. I had a whole garden full of the stuff and it was hideous. Its actually used as a healing herb but in its raw state used to make a mess of my arms.

I think barmaid's answer is much closer than mine.
i have a great app on my phone bit late now but plantsnap is fantastic if there is any more locally try the app its free
Are the flowers multi headed umbrellas like hogweed/cow parsley family or do they look different? Comfrey is hairy and itchy but the flowers are nothing like a hogweed.

I don't know how to answer these individually, so thanks to everyone, we are looking at umbellifer plants as the flowers are very similar, and think one of these may be the culprit
plant juice applied to skin and then
exposed to the sun ( in that order)
is a phyto photo dermatitis
( far too long a word for AB)
and there is a longish article here

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Phytophotodermatitis

which is guaranteed to exhaust even the strongest

[I got this when I was 12 and elicited an odd reaction from my family - oh look when he has been and gone and done now - he's covered in blisters ! and I was going like: "it may not be me you know!"]
Have you looked at Joe pye weed ?
Okay, try to think of any other details for ID.
I don't want to appear alarmist but it might be wise to stay out of the sun until you find out what the plant is.
Members of the parsley family (umbelifers) have hollow stems, so this may narrow it down.
If the rash persists you can apply calamine lotion.
