This is a picture of an old dish of mine that used to be microwave safe. Now it burns frozen peas and looks like this at the end of cooking.

I don’t overcook it so should I buy new dishes?

Buy new dishes

That’s what I thought, Barry. X
Was plate marked microwave safe?
I'd either wait until charity shops reopen and fork out 50p for a replacement bowl or buy one for a quid in Asda:

TonyV, I’ve had them for so long, I’ve no idea. There’s nothing on the base to tell me either yay or nay. :)
I always use Pyrex glass bowls in the microwave.
Maybe just an old dish then that had some moisture in cracks which exploded
I don't use glazed earthenware in a microwave, other than for very occasional use - it's not the best material for repeated zapping, because underneath the glaze it is very porous. For repeated use, borosilicate glass (eg Pyrex) is far better.
Buenchico - your recommendation says it's not suitable for use in a microwave or dishwasher.
I just use plastic pots. The ones like you get takeaways in.

Do a search on Amazon.
^because it's glazed earthenware! I rest my case, m'lud.
I once used a plastic container that something from M&S came in. I ended up with a load of peas, water and melted plastic.
I mainly use Pyrex but if it’s just for warming something for a minute then pretty much anything.
