Ladybirder, which one did you buy? They used to advertise one for around £245 after a discount of about £50, can’t remember which one it was. Thanks all.
I bought it in December 2014.
The Model: Vax V-124A Dual V Upright Carpet and Upholstery Washer
Guarantee Duration: 6 year

It cost £136.00, goodness nows what a similar one would cost now. But 9 years old and still as good as new. My daughter and one of my neighbours use it about once a year as well.

I guess they've improved in the last 9 years but my Vax has been good to me.

We have the Vax Platinum Smartwash - brilliant. We had the same one as LB, which we used to lend to our daughter who lives 40 miles away. We got tempted by the newer version, so bought one and left the other one with her. The old one was good but the new one is even better - it senses whether you are on a forward or backward stroke and automatically washes or dries. I would highly recommend one.
I have had both..currently have the new version VACS like BHG..and use it weekly..prefer this to the Bissell..although I still have the small portable Bissell for taking out to car if needed !
VAX !! ^^

Thanks all, my friend bought one around 4 years ago and found it very difficult to clean out underneath, it had to be taken apart, screws etc. she got a refund. Are the newer ones easier to clean?
Ours is easy to clean - no tools needed.

Just seen an ad for the Vax Platinum Powermax, would you say the Smartwash is worth the extra £100? The Smartwash does come with a free steamer worth £50 by the way ….thanks all.
