Which is the best fabric conditioner for..

keeping its smell? I've tried them nearly all, but once any clothes go in the tumble dryer, the fragrance seems to disappear.

You're a fountain of information Smudge! Thanks for going to all that trouble - and yes, I'm in the UK, but it doesn't feel like it sometimes because I live remotely - so it could be Outer Mongolia on dark cold days.

Ice, the composition of Febreeze is radically different than traditional fabric softners. P&G typically won't offer samples. However, if you purchase an initial product, and are not satisfied with it, they will immediately refund what you paid.

This is not an endorsement, but you might give it a try. I use it in my mission in The Republic of Moldova, when washing clothes of children who have lived on the streets. It's actually quite nice IMHO.

I have the same problem witht he smell of my clothes other peoples clean clothes always smell nice and mine smell of nothing all smell damp funny like.

I dry the clothes straight after they come out of the washer, I try to dry them for the right amount of time with a bounce sheet in the tumble drier. I also use fabric softener with my wash??? So I don't know what to do. I have tried different softeners when they are on offer and have no change really!

If people told me not to use fabric softener and a tumble drier, I would pay no attention, there's not other way to dry my clothes I have yet to hang washing out once this year as at work most days and the weather crap, I don't have any where for a washing line either.

I will keep trying for the good smell though and will tell you if i find it!

Thanks What..the - I must confess that my td's used a lot. It's not just a problem with our weather. I have stacks of washing to do every day, so it's just easier and quicker to get one lot sorted before throwing in some more. As I said before though, bed linen hung on the line (weather permitting) always retains a lovely fresh smell, but I don't like tea towels and clothes coming in all creased up and hard. Td's eliminate that, but it's nice to hear what everyone thinks, and yes, I'd be interested to hear if you or anyone else finds a conditioner that stays put. I'll try the Febreeze as well Fr. Bill!

Comfort concentrate blue bottle. It says active fresh technology or something like that on the label, which means a fragrance is released when you move the fabric. I used it last night and even though it is concentrate I poured as much in as they say for unconcentrated i.e. up to max line.

I then dried the clothes in 3 loads in the ttumble drier with a new bounce sheet each time. And that seems to have worked - it does of course seem to cost alot more to do but well I like the smell!
