Have had dealings with 4 houses in the last year or so and posted on here about my problems, mainly B. Gas.
I have owned this bungalow since May last year, moving in in September. You would think by now that the change from B. Gas to another company would be history.
Wrong. I arrived home today, dirty from our renovation project, and only just ahead of Mr Rabbity calling by the fish shop. There was an Eon van outside. He wandered up the path after me. He was there to read the meters and get the reg numbers on them. I started to bristle, let him in and showed him the meters when I really wanted to get changed, put the kettle on etc.
He claimed I was an appointment, made for between 5 and 7. Rubbish. He had waited 20 mins. I had had no letter. His screen showed my old London number so they couldn't have phoned me either.
My 'new' supplier read the gas meter at the end of Jan. He ignored the electric meter. Probably because today fella said I am not using electricity ??? To get the gas meter read I filled in 2 appointment forms. Both no shows. I rang to tell them they accept my reading or keep calling and catch me in. They said they had received neither of my forms. I appointed again. For the evening. He called at 11 am.
I've said it before. Enter into this palaver if you feel lucky.

If you have both Gas and Electric with NPower you get up to 80 (I think) rebate per year. If you take this into account I think it's hard to beat the other providers. I pay 65 for both and am in credit (family of 4, 4 bed house, all mod cons). I am a bit anal about turning stuff off though (except heating cos I'm always cold)!
Check out Martins Money saving expert web page before you switch as many suppliers haven't yet raised their prices- they may do soon and you don't want to switch just as the price goes up.
