any ideas to get rid of moles without harming them?

you can get vibrating things to stick in the ground, also childs' windmills or bottles without lids are said to have a similar effect. There is a plant called caper spurge that has a pungent smell that moles are said not to like as well. You could try googling on "getting rid of moles" for more info

We tried the ultrasonic groud stick, the windmills etc and did not work. Back to the traps! Worth a try but they arent all they are cracked up to be. A local farmer near us lends out his dog which likes to dig and catch them...!

I realise that, i was just pointing out that for us they did not work at all, and that we resorted to killing them.

Poor little things!  They are a b nuisance, I would agree but I would rather put up with it than kill them.  Too soft, I suppose. 

My husband pours water down the mole holes and when they come up spluttering he grabs them and takes them up the field at the back of our house.

I have never heard that! Might try taking some buckets of water down the garden!

Thanks for your answers FP's very funny it looks like buckets of water. My boyfriend has gone to get some gloves as he say's moles are muddy and have sharp teeth!! I�m pouring the water he�s grabbing the moles the neigbours will think we are mad!!!! If we catch any we have a small stream at the bottom of the garden over the stream is a farmer�s field new home for the moles.

Have fun.  Watering cans are better = you can get the spout right down the hole!  Enjoy your Easter mole catching.

FP .no luck we poured water down holes no moles appeared ,our neighbours said it was a waste of time as every garden has them so we are going to put some decking down when we have the cash. We have got to decorate the house as we have only just moved in thanks for your help I was a bit scared of them coming out of the holes claws and all !!
