Car insurance Excess -

voluntary vehicle damage
fire
theft
windscreen

'Vehicle damage excesses are cumulative'
What does that mean ?

----------------------------------

Accident during last years insurance period - not been settled .
Got NCB protection - Last year had 8 years NCB - This renewal year documents says you still have 8 years NCB ( Instead of 9 ).

Question on insurance search site asks -has accident affected your NCB ?

Is the answer yes simply because the NCB has not increased to 9 years ?

You can choose the amount of excess for each category so several excesses can added together and be deducted from a payout.
If you had £100 vehicle damage excess you would not get the first £100 of a damage claim.
If you had £100 fire excess you would not get the first £100 of a fire claim and so on.
If it had fire and other damage they would not pay out £200, the £100 fire damage excess and the £100 damage excess.
I would assume that it means that if, for example, you have an accident where the bodywork is damaged and the windscreen is broken, you pay the voluntary vehicle damage excess AND the windscreen excess.
As far as the NCB is concerned, some companies don't register above a certain number of years. I haven't had an accident for over 30 years but I still come up with 8 years, NCB.
