The World Health Organisation has just said that processed meat is carcinogenic. And red meat is 'probably' carcinogenic too.

Will you heed the warnings?

Ummmm,

They say 50g (2 rahers of Bacon) increases your risk by 18%.
I gave up eating meat nearly 40 years ago. Never regretted that decision. Nothing with a face thank you !

Yes. Meat causing health problems fro Heart Attacks is well known, but links to cancer are new(ish).
Pretty well everything is carcinogenic if you have too much and/or too often. just as well primitive man managed to breed before he had eaten to much mammoth.
I thought that the report stated that processed meat in EXCESS (daily) was not carcinogenic, but increased the incidence of bowel cancer.

Having a fry up once or twice a week would NOT increase the incidence of bowel cancer.

Unless i have misunderstood the WHO's findings.

It's very rare that I'd ever eat bacon, or sausages, or any meats like that.

I do eat red meat but not much of it.

If if it wasn't for the fact I have other people to cook for they'd be hardly any meat on my menu.
I thought the dangers had been suspected for a long time. No, I won't stop eating meat.
I think its a bit late in life to worry me, so I'll just carry on eating it.

2?
omg ... I have eaten hundreds if not thousands of rashers of bacon :0/
No way. I have given up too many things I enjoy for the sake of health.Had bowel cancer so got that one out the way so will carry on as usual.
You never get to heaven if you don't die first. :-)
What the W.H.O. actually said;
"For an individual, the risk of developing colorectal cancer because of their consumption of processed meat remains small . . ."

No, I certainly won't. I gave up worrying many years ago when a study (American)proved that lettuce was carcinogenic. (They fed mice with nothing but lettuce.) I decided then an there that it was all rubbish and that a good general diet was fine for me and mine.

No, at 64 not going to stop now after a lifetime of doing it.
I didn't think this was a new finding, been mentioned for years.

I don't eat a huge amount of meat, so will continue as I am.
No.
No.
I'll wait until they change their minds and agree with me.
They usually eventually do.
Nah at 103 years old I'm too set in my ways. Load of old pony anyway, never did me any harm! I can see what they mean about processed food but that's not only meat is it? The problem is that outfits like the WHO are full to the rafters with vegans/veggies and they are completely radio, so I tend to take all of this with a cwt of salt, actually I never add salt! that's good isn't it?
