We are currently looking for a Warehouse Operative to join our busy team.
The Warehouse Operative will be responsible for picking customer orders and ensuring invoiced items leave the branch in a timely manner.
Responsibilities include but not limited to:
Picking customer orders, loading vans, and making regular checks to ensure all orders are picked correctly.
Overseeing the dispatch of orders and coordinate van deliveries
Checking and putting away supplier deliveries, informing your line manager of any shortages or damaged stock
Assist with a rolling stock taking program, ensuring all stock is always located correctly.
Assist with maintaining a clean and safe working environment.
To be successful in this role:
Demonstrate good time keeping.
Be flexible when needed.
In return we offer:
An opportunity to join a global brand and market leader.
Exclusive discounts and cashback from 1000s of major retailers and grocers via the AAG Benefits App, including Tesco, Boots and Just Eat.
Opportunities for career progression and bespoke training.
Free pension advice from our standard pension provider.
Free access to Health, Wellbeing and Financial tools.
Discount on car parts
They've given plenty of information.
Amongst other things they require flexibility. That might mean being needed to work when you'd rather do a bottomless brunch. Your priority would have to be work.
Could you oversee "the dispatch of orders and coordinate van deliveries" or "Checking and putting away supplier deliveries, informing your line manager of any shortages or damaged stock"
Those are big responsibilities.
You cannot earn enough at Selco based on 10 hours a week. You will never be able to save, pay your way and move out or afford holidays or a car.
The job you've been offered seems to be paying roughly 4 times as much. It'll make a huge difference financially. You'll learn new skills and improve your chance of progressing your career. Take it while there is an offer. Give it 3 months to see if it's working out and save up as much as you can. Also pay back your mum some money and offer to pay a reasonable amount for 'keep'.
I wouldn't turn down this new job just in the hope you get the warehouse job. You may not get the warehouse job. You may be able to do it even if you get it.
