i realise this is going to sound very silly and ignorant of me, but can anyone please tell me what it is that an administrator does??

my daughter is an office administrator and is required to do all manor of office tasks from making drinks, to wrapping parcels to computer work and answering the phone, she is carrying out(administering) their wishes

I am an administrator. I would recommend it. Great job. Varied and I can do what I feel like doing when I feel like doing it.

You're the glue which keeps everything together, and you know everything which goes on in each field. So although you may only be the administrator you actually have more knowledge of the business than anyone else and their specific jobs. In my case anyway.

The positions you're descirbing sound more like administration assistants.....the administrator is in charge of the assistants and deals with the slightly more grandious aspects of office life.

I was an administrator for 2 years.. basically I answered the telephone, wrapped parcels, typed letters and reports. It depends which company you work for to what administrating part you do. :o)
