date of art exam

we're meant to have 8 weeks to prepare for our exam, but the other art group got the title on tuesday and us on thursday, when our exam will be on the same days, plus the date that our teacher told us was 7 and a half weeks afetr the first group got theirs and only 7 after us, but i can't find it on the edexcel website and non of the teachers seem to know, as they have all been given an exam timetable but art isnt on it.

on the booklet we've been given it says

1027/3027 unendorsed

and other stuff to with other exams.

Surely if three and a half days is going to make that much difference, students couldn't have been properly prepared in the first place?

I'd suggest you stop worrying about something you probably can't change and spend your time more productively by actually preparing for the exam.

how would you like to go into an exam where most people have had to full 2 years to learn it and you've missed the last term, its the same proportion and a few days can mean a lot in art prep. this is our schedule, so far each week is 2/3 lessons the rest we don't finish has to be done in our own time.

week 1, title page, mind map, 6 a4 pages of secondary source annotated and with backgrounds and borders that are unique to every page. (we got one hour of lesson time because of getting it after the others)

week 2, 6 a4 pages of primary source, 4 pages of observational drawings etc, annotated with backgrounds and borders that are unique to every page. and another 4 a4 pages with backgrounds ready for next weeks work.

on top of the four other bits of coursework i have at the moment.

3 days, i found out today that the other group got it on monday and i've compared timetables, they have an extra 4 hours of lesson time on it.

we're expected to do between half an hour and an hour a day of it, on top of our lessons.

aswell as the geography, english, food and science coursework i have, yeah.

Edexcel does not set the date for the Timed Test - they stipulate that the tests must be completed ahead of external moderation which occurs between 4th May and 25th June - it is a purely internal school/college matter as to when it will occur.

I do not think that quibbling over a couple of days enhances your preparation for the Timed Test. Be thankful that you are not sitting the WJEC or OCR tests - they allow for 6 weeks preparation - and be REALLY thankful it is not the AQA version else you would only have 4 weeks.

Friend of mine has just completed a Fine Art degree. She was often given something like half a semester's notice of brief and final submission/crit date, and three or four days before that date her chief concern wasn't so much getting it finished as getting it into the gallery and on display without damaging it.

Mollykins, we all like as much time as we can possibly get to prepare for exams and a whole host of other events. But we don't always get it and yes, we have to put a fair amount of our own time into things that we'd really rather not. But life's like that, I'm afraid, all the way up to the end.

As Sprinter and I have both said, try to spend what time you have actually doing the prep rather than whinging about it. If you love the subject, you'll not mind putting 'extra' time into it anyway, and if you hate it, then it doesn't make much difference.

Stop wasting your time making a fuss about trivialities.Most of us have done examinations in our time, so we know the pressure there can be. Most of us have worked in jobs where there is pressure of some kind of another to finish things , do things and so on.
Just be very grateful that you have the opportunity to receive an education. Thousands of children and young people in the world do not have your opportunity to learn, so get your head down, do some work,be grateful for the opportunities presented to you and stop moaning for goodness sake.
