paid suspension

i have been on paid suspension for the past month for something which i didnt do, i have heard nothing from my employer not even a written statement, is this illegal as its been over 28 days, i have wrote numerous letters and none of which have been replied too, any one no where i need to go with the situation as i cant seem to find much info on the wen about this, and as a student its a financial strain aswel not having a job just being paid my basic wage

There have been many a high-profile cases where well-paid civil servants (and probably others) are suspended for months on end (with pay) whilst allegations are investigated. However they ought to give you some indication about how long this is likely to go on.
Does it say anything in the company's disciplinary procedure about how long such procedures it will take? - it may do but it doesn't have to.
What I don't understand is this business about 'just being paid your basic wage'. Is there are huge difference between basic and target earnings, perhaps, because you are in sales?

my basic wage is the number of hours i am contracted to do but as i am in a bar i often get put down for extra shifts as staff numbers are short at the moment as it seems the company has a high turnover of staff, and no i havent heard a word this is why i have been writing the letters so i can get at least some indication of how long it will be as the companies policy states 7 days but could be more and if this is the case the employeee should be notified which i havent recieved either.
Have you tried getting bar work /other work elsewhere? If your bar is short staffed then you may find others are too.
I know you are concerned but there are some people who'd say you are in quite a good position- you are still being paid and you have more time to study, or you can get other work and be paid twice.

yes apaerently according to the companies policy im not allowed to work for another employer without permission but im not sure how they can enforce this as for all they no i could have had more than one job all ready, and yes im looking for another job as im very bored at home not having gone back to uni so with no student loan till the end of the month either so all the money i can get i need to live!

'Apparently according to the companies policy etc.' - so you don't have a copy of it? Generally bar work is relatively easy to come by.
I cannot think of any reason why this company should need to spend this amount of time investigating a case. IMHO, many of the large leisure/retail companies have really strong central management at HQ with policies up the ying-yang and then pathetic premises managers because the pay is relatively poor and the hours are unsocial. Unless the HR linkage between HQ to its local units is strong, it's very easy for a local manager to do what he/she pleases for long periods of time if, say, the person doesn't like an employee.
If this does appear to be the situation, I'd just get another temp job anyway.

yeah thats what it sounds like to me! took the words right out my mouth and yes to be honest the managers were pretty poor at their jobs whilst there and this was also noticed by other members of staff! so yes i will be getting another job or at least looking anyway, it will give me something to do! thanks for your help anyway
