Can anyone please tell me if there is a statute of limitations on a criminal assault charge in Poland? My friend received a two year jail sentence (even though he was defending a woman who was being assaulted). He absconded to the U.K. and then Ireland where he is now living and married with two children. He is obviously worried about his past and cannot go back to Poland for fear of being imprisoned. All this happened 13 years ago, perhaps after all this time he would be okay? I would be grateful for any information. Thank you.

But do you not think, if he absconded from prison, he wouldn't be sent back if he returned to Poland, irrespective of it being his fault or not? (you do only have his word on that)

I thought (possibly incorrectly) that is applied to civil rather than criminal crimes?
