having a few drinks celebrating the birthday if my cousin's mum at a bar we decided to go home, my cousin stared chasing hes younger sister across the roads shouting at her slapping her. We were all heavily drunk, i saw my cousin cornered hes younger sister and it seemed he was going to beat her, some by passers tried to assist but he didn't let them get near so they left. I went to him and pulled him away and he fell to the ground and i got on top of him and started hitting him and shouting at him telling him she was his blood i lost control.

then i saw he was bleeding and started wiping hes blood with my hands he seemed unconscious, apparently when he fell he hit his head with the ground but i wasn't aware.
we were drunk. someone called police and ambulance and took him away and i was arrested and sent to the station held for over 24 hours and didnt get bail so i was sent straight to court the next day and given bail until next court.

My cousin and his family has strong bonds with ours, we grew up together and were very close like brothers, he doesn't want to press chargers nor does his family. the police has been told that its a family matter and we want to keep police out of this but the police are pressuring them and forcing them on pressing charges against me but my cousin does not want to.

what is the likely outcome of this incident? if both parties have agreed to forget about what happened.

My cousin had been taken to hospital and he has broken jaw and i cant remember something else hes chin, but i think all this was done when he fell and i made it worse.
my hands where bloody due to me wiping his face but police took pictures of my hands and took all my clothes and stuff for evidence.

i have no previous convictions have never got in any kind of trouble and im a university leaver looking for work.

please advice

The likelihood is the police will prosecute you regardless of what you, your cousin, or your family want.

You have to look at it from their point of view. What happens next time get drunk?
The way sentences are so lenient theses days, you will probably get a slapped wrist, but the cost of an ambulance, hospital treatment for your cousin, police time dealing with you, you should get 6 months and have to pay all the cost.

Control your drinking and grow up!

well, while i have a clean criminal background, my cousin on the other side has been sentenced before for stabbing, drugs, theft. and more
Are you claiming self defense?
Words fail me...
Well you haven't got one now have you?

I was defending his younger sister which he was insulting chasing across the streets and was about to beat up. i defended her
you said he was GOING to beat her...you beat him unconscious...that is not defending her...

pulling him away from her...standing inbetween them...dragging her as far away from him as you could ...those would have been defending her...you just battered him...he didnt even hit you...

when he landed on the floor that should have been the end of your attack...she was safe...you admit you lost control and jumped on him...
You're a univeristy leaver????
Do they not teach the basic use of the English language nowadays?

With regards to the case, legally I have no idea, morally (as has been stated by others) you're a c0ck. You battered someone who was lying on the floor KO'd.
Lol bobjugs your spelling is spot on..
Poodi, I failed college twice, i'm (mildly) dyslexic, i've just finished a block of 4x16 hour shifts, and i'm currently typing in the dark
Did I read Poodi mention 'low digs' in someone elses thread. I think my response was 'classic'
