One thing you should bear in mind is that although your Stae pension is paid free of tax deductions it actually forms part of your taxable income.
This means that if you are paying tax at the basic rate on your employment at the moment you will pay quite a bit more when you receive your State pension. If your state pension is, say, £100 per week (roughly £5,000 per year) you will be liable for tax of £1,000 on it.
