Whats the law ?
2am seems unreasonable to me, there must have been hundreds of people rudely awoken last night, apart from birds fleeing from their night time roosts.

If you know where fireworks were coming from then maybe Police or Council noise abatement officer may have a word to prevent future occurrence's. But I agree 2am is a bit late.

The law says you must not set off or throw fireworks (including sparklers) in the street or other public places. You must not set off fireworks between 11pm and 7am, except for: Bonfire Night, when the cut off is midnight. New Year's Eve, Diwali and Chinese New Year, when the cut off is 1am.

The trouble with unreasonable noise is that one offs may be hard to trace, the police aren't really interested and just want you to advise the council, and the council isn't around at, say, 2 am; and seem ineffective if they do anything anyway.

Yes - sometimes you just got to put up with these occasional minor irritations. At least it wasn't an earthquake or a flood!
