I had a near miss when driving home last night, a youth in a speeding car overtook a car on a corner right in front of me and i had to flash my lights at him. Anyone else had one recently?.

i fell out of bed

How does flashing your lights help the situation?

Exactly miser. If anything it might exacerbate the situation.

Yes, yesterday.  A numbskull backing out of his drive onto a main road.  A huge drive with high hedges both sides so there was no way he could have seen the road but plenty of space to turn around so he could edge forwards and see approaching traffic.  Too lazy I guess.

A man overtaking on a bend on the wrong side of the road crashed into my niece's car.  She suffered a broken ankle and bruising.

For some reason he wasn't charged and is likely still driving dangerously.

I think flashing the lights shows the displeasure the bad driving causes. And you never know, it may stop him doing the same again.

Flashing your lights might just save your life if he hasn't seen you - better safe than sorry.

// i had to flash my lights at him.//

No you didn't. Flashing your lights to warn another driver of your presence may be acceptable. Treating it as some form of admonishment is pointless.

Question Author

Yes, but it is satisfying.

It isn't satisfying should you have temporary blinded an oncoming driver. As dave wrote .The use of the lights and horn are for warning other drivers of your presence not for showing your peevishness. It may have shown the other driver you were miffed but it could cause an unnecessary road rage incident and you could of come off worse than a feeling of satisfaction for flashing your lights.

Yes. You are right. Sorry.

Driving on A39 towards Lynton direction.

A small tanker truck took long sweeping corner too fast and was almost on two wheels as it came towards us.

If the tyres hadn't held then it would have been curtains for us hitting it head on.

Saved the Dashcam footage and passed onto police via reporting portal.

Dangerous driving and espically a HGV tanker truck.

An idiot on an electric scooter decided to cross the junction when the lights were on red. I had gone forward because my lights were green and saw him in my peripheral vision, so slammed on my brakes and yes, I did sound my horn and a few expletives too.

Most recently a cop car on blues & twos coming towards me at warp speed on the wrong side of the road overtaking a line of vehicles. Fortunately there was no kerb & I was able to swerve onto the grass verge to avoid him. Lucky for him I had my wits about me.

A friend sent me a picture of a crash last night.  A car ploughed into a parked vehicle at speed and pushed the parked vehicle onto a pavement where my friend and his son had walked 20 seconds before.  If they had been 20 seconds later it would have been very nasty.  Drunk driver with a kid in the back apparently.

Too many to be recounted. So many bad, selfish, knobheads

I'd certainly have shaken my fist at him, show him a thing or two.

Bloody petrolheads - twenty is plenty.

^^^ Yes - it all started going downhill when they got rid of the bloke with the red flag!😂

//twenty is plenty.//

Hmm, talking about beers?
