Is there a keyboard shortcut to get to the desktop when there are loads of windows open?

is there a shortcut to trigger the screensaver without waiting however many minutes for it to start itself?

anyone know of any other interesting/handy shortcuts?

What OS are you using? Windows XP, Vista, something else?

If you are using XP and have a Windows keyboard, pressing Win with M will minimise all windows to access the desktop.

My Win key is between Ctrl and Alt.

You can create an icon on your desktop to quickly activate your screensaver:

I'm gonna have a look at the screensaver one now

hmmm, i followed that link ethel, and did the search but it didn't find anything :(
The links work fine for me. The third one gives clear instructions re screensaver, the second one has lots of clickable links telling you how to do it.

The first clickable link in the list is 'A Quicker Scroll' - click on it for instructions.
In case you can't see the screensaver one:

1. Click start and 'search'.

2. In the search box click 'all files and folders'.

3. In the box that pops up, type *.scr then click search

4. A list of screensavers will appear in the box. You can preview them by double clicking on each one.
When you find the one you want, right click on the file - send to - desktop.

And that should be it. There will be an icon on your desktop that will immediately start the screensaver.
Try pressing the Windows key and D. Pressing it again brings it all back.

It hides absolutely everything, even weird little programs that don't work with standard Windows keys.
Oh and I use a program called Winkey to create my own shortcuts. My screensaver kicks in with Windows and Q.
