I was recently asked not to smoke OUTSIDE of a restaurant. Were they in the right to insist on this?

Ethel you can not walk on the pavement near me for all the cars park half on the pavement half on the road. The first thing after an accident the police will ask you was the car driver smoking or eating or was his attention distracted by something.
I would like all car tax to cost MORE, A LOT MORE

People will still park on the curbs and drop people off at night.

That's the problem with this new law, had all the anti smoking lobby moaning about it so we all go outside for a fag, now they're still moaning.

MrBen i have driven many years ago, i have no intention of ever driving a car again if i can help it.I would have to lose my legs and even then i do not think i would. Car drivers are the worst kind of human you can find when they get behind the wheel.
Ask a traffic policeman what his fear or worst job is that he can go to.
Having to scrape a child up of the road will be his reply

It seems to be a compulsion with smokers to point to motorists. I can't understand it.

People drive to get themselves, passengers and goods from A to B.

People smoke to ruin their health.

Yes Ethel but car exhaust fumes are far more deadly.The waste gases from cars are not just killing you they are killing the planet.

herculiscbr, the biggest threat to this planet from gas emissions is the methane gas that is emitted by cud chewing mammals throughout the world.

Hmmm, not too sure i understand your logic herculiscbr.
Are you saying you would never wear,buy or eat or travel on anything that emits fumes?
If so, you are contradicting yourself as anything in life has been transported around by vehicles (even your pc/laptop).
Smoking a fag whilst someone is eating is annoying. So when you go to a restaraunt you expect to eat, smell free.
You wouldnt go and eat your lunch behind a bus would you?

You can walk or use a push bike or use public transport

I took my brother to the dentist's the other week. He was having a fag outside, and the receptionist came out and asked him to move on or stub it out - she said the smoke was blowing into the surgery!
