The document was to return an item with a signed agreement that the item should not be fixed; the item should only be checked for faults. The serial number was added by them after I had signed, therefore I could not prove that the item sent for fault diagnosis was actually mine. I still believe that any additions should have required my copy to have been updated in my presence.
I do dispute the fact that the editions were added. I feel my copy should have been undated with my full knowledge, the consequence of their actions are, the item being sent away should be traceable and recognizable by myself and the dealer by the serial number, the return of the said item would then be clear for all to see. It is some what underhand for them to add these numbers after the document had been signed.
