Wierd question about stolen jeans
45 Answers
Abit of an odd question here but i need some info as its driving me insane. My fiance who i live with was accused yesterday of stealing my sisters jeans. Both are 100% convinced that they belong to eachother, so my sister called the police.
Neither of them have receipts or anything like that, and the police are due at my house tomorrow.
What im wondering is whats the procedure for something like this? How are the police supposed to be able to tell who they belong to? And whats the charge if they are stolen??
Any info would be great !

it may sound daft, but only because they are sisters...if a man came up to me in the street and took a £400 item from my bag, or even £100, you would all be saying, call the police, get him done, outrage etc etc
whats the difference? theft it theft. the people and item involved do not alter that fact.

Why is your sister convinced your fiancee stole the jeans? Why could it not be assumed that she simply mixed them up with a similar pair of her own, your sister sounds a right jealous mare, don;t let her be a bridesmaid she'll try to upstage the bride. The police won't do anything. If your sister can't prove they are her jeans and your fiancee can't either the CPS wouldn't touch the case.
Hi Dismouk2009.
My second paragraph was not directly related to my first paragraph.
I agree that in many cases victims can't prove to police they owned what they claimed was stolen, but I think the police would encourage victims of street robbery to report the crime and the police would want to find witnesses and get a description of the thief.
I don't believe they would encourage reporting of disputes like this with the jeans
