My so called friend lost her bank card and apparently 15 mins after she left me money was withdrawn and she has accused me.

She said the police are involved and I'm petrified. I live with my parents and do not want police at my door.

I dont know what to do can anyone help

is there any way I can find out if she has gone to the police and contact them myself?

Well I did say I would apologise if I was wrong murraymints. Murraymints are delicious. Remember the advert - too good to hurry mints. Incidentally I have been wrongly accused myself - years ago - and thank goodness was absolved of all blame,so know what it is like. Personally I was in floods of tears all the time, so would not have been able to hide anything from anybody.

I spoke to my ex who also knows her and he said to do nothing that the police wouldn't help me as I don't know where she went if she did
Relax Wrongly, the police wont even bother wasting their time on such a trivial matter, honestly, listen to what others have writted, the likes of EDDIE are right. What sum of money was withdrawn ? If your friend is that bothered about it she would have not hesitated in reporting this to her bank to sort out. Some friend she is, you dont need friends like this in your life that make you feel like this. Please dont worry. It will be okay.

Hi Purple_popple apparently it was 200 pounds withdrawn. I'd understand if I suddenly started buying things but I have absolutely nothing except a payday loan taken out after the even, a overdrawn bank account and no money to even get my dog some food. My dad had to get some for him
That is irrelevant weather you started to buy things or not...does not prove anything. I can tell you are still worrying, please dont, not worth it, the police have better things to do, just get on with your own life and keep busy try not to dwell on this, nothing will happen and tell your friend to get lost if she tried to contact you again over this.
Like I said before, if your friend didn't report the loss to the bank straight away, she's a fool. Who's to say that this money is actually missing, in the first place. Please stop fretting (and I know it's not easy!) but with friends like this, who needs enemies...?

I've deleted her number as requested. But I'm a natural worrier lol was just thinking if she did go to the police would they come to my door or phone me?

You see I'm being told different things by different people some say they will come others say they wont
Sounds like people are winding you up, wrongly, because they know it will get to you. Have you shared your worries with your mum or dad yet? As Eddie says, there is no proof, and the cctv cameras on the cashpoint would show exactly who took the money out, if it EVER comes to it. You know you didn't do it - you are innocent, so even if the police did knock, you didn't do it. They have to prove it, not you prove you didn't.
just keep calm, and tell the truth it will all sort itself out, then chose your friends much more carefully, best wishes and dont let it spoil your life, have a happy and holy christmas.

I think she is winding me up as I said to my ex she is in a relationship and also having a affair, maybe she gave him money and when her partner questioned it she made out her card was lost. Still it is a bit of a worry.

No I have not told my parents and I wont.

I want to say a MASSIVE thank you to Murraymints, Purple_popple and Boxtops for all your help and advice it really is appreciated
Hi wronglyaccused- I think everything has been said on here now to help you. Just coming back on here posting even more comments and details is not going to help put this out of your mind. I suggest you go to watch a film or go for a walk to help you put it further back in your mind.
atm manchine cameras will show who used the card...and also sometimes the statements show usage well after the actual time - i assume she has checked online...so it doesnt mean its been used 15 mins later...

you will be fine if you have done nothing wrong...the police wonbt do anythign to you without proof..
why does it matter what station she reports to?

they have a central computer so its irrelevant the actual place...and surely itd just be your local one...

Thanks for all your replies. What I don't get if I knew my card was 'missing' I would have contacted my provider straight away. Why did she wait a week to tell me about it then say the police are GETTING involved ifthat was me I would be on the phone ASAP
Woman !!!!!! STOP WORRYING !!!! Will have to seriously think about coming to wherever you are and shake you, nothing is going to happen..
Question Author
lol murraymints I know I need to stop worrying easier said than done though as I said I'm a natural worrier
Maybe I should adopt you then legitimately as a"concerned parent" give her a good slapping !!!!
I think I would be inclined to share my worries with my parents.
If I had been accused of something I hadn't done but found the whole scenario troubling nevertheless, I'd turn to those closest to me for support; just to help me feel better.
Haven't you got bored with this thread yet? You can only say one thing a certain number of times, if you haven't got the message by now, I give up.
