Do you think the outcome of the sueing by those two gay men against the christian hotel owners would have been the same if the hotel owners were of a different religion (that's equally against homosexuality) such as Islam?

Excluding people from commercial premises because of their sexual orientation is illegal.

The religous beliefs of the guilty parties are irrelevant and would have no bearing on the case in law.

If the owners had been Muslim they would not have discriminated, so the question does not arise. Every Muslim-owned shop I have ever been in has had no compunction in selling me bacon and alcohol.

Mike but if it were a muslim family and they were strongly opposed to homosexuality as this british couple, they might have done the same thing but then lawyers would be blah blah we need to protect the hotel owners rights to practice their religion and it's rules blah blah blah IMO, even though they shouldn't be able to.

the human rights of the owners to break the law? Well, they broke it, and now the judge has exercised his human right to punish them.

I would like to think that a couple of any religion or belief would think through the laws and know that they may face this situation.

Whatever happened to tact, e.g. "I'm so terribly sorry, but we seem to have double-booked the room and the other couple are already in residence. If you'll be so kind as to bear with me, I shall ring round my fellow hoteliers and see if I can find you alternative accommodation. Of course, we will pay any additional costs involved."

Honour satisfied all round, I think.
