Here is a show that is on Channel 4 some mornings and never really took off as far as I can see. To me it is up there with Friends as one of the best US comedy shows ever. Then you've got dirge like How I Met Your Mother, The Big Bang Theory and all the rest taking up prime time slots, I don't understand why. Admittedly a show is better when you know the characters, but here is one of my favourite scenes.

Presumably, though, anyone (e.g. me) who thinks Friends is one of the worst shows of any genre ever made will not like it much...? ;-)

Ha, I don't know Mark, I don't think they are very similar. ELR deals more with family issues. Did you watch the vid?
Yes.
I have all of the Everybody Loves Raymond series on DVD, it's hilarious. As MarkRae says, people who don't like Friends will probably not like it at all. It's on Comedy Central every day.
Question Author
Same here vod, still watch em. So Mark what would be your fav comedy shows, if any?
friends was pants and what I've seen of this, this was too. Sorry
Question Author
As I say, if you know the characters and such it's funnier,
points taken though.
Dont be sorry Postdog....if we all liked the same things the world would be a very boring place! lol
I think I saw all of the episodes...they were great...I loved the Mother.....she was evil.!!
I don't like friends but like Everybody Loves Raymond!
Generally speaking, I don't find American sitcoms funny at all. To my mind, they cater for the lowest common denominator. The ones filmed in front of a live studio audience are rendered even less watchable by the constant and mindless whooping and hollering...

My fav(ourite) sitcoms would be shows like Father Ted, Dad's Army, Blackadder, Fawlty Towers, Red Dwarf, Drop the Dead Donkey - that sort of thing...

Noraq, there is nothing like a bit of passive agressiveness. I'm sure many a good wife has experienced it.
Question Author
Mark, yeah, I like all those, especially Red Dwarf(how I took my AB name). Also I would add The Office. But as for American sitcoms have you ever watched Curb Your Enthusiasm, The Larry Sanders Show, or even the US version of The Office. They are higher brow perhaps.
Never really took off?

For a while it was one of the biggest sitcoms in the states, and Ray Ramono was one of the highest paid TV actors.

It's a great show, mind oyu, I am a bit of a sucker for US comedies.

I meant this side of the water Boo.
I think Everybody loves Raymond is funny and refreshing. I only "found it " a year ago and enjoy it greatly .
I've tried to watch those. The American version of The Office, in particular, is dreadful beyond belief...
Ahhh right, this side of the pond- with you now. Have you seen Modern Family? If not, i highly recommend it.
not keen on everybody loves raymond, love Big bang theory. Different strokes for different folks and I guess they go with majority and viewing figures
I love the show. Also good ones are 'King of Queens' and 'Two and a half men'.
