It`s lovely there. My sister and I took mum there for afternoon tea and I spent my birthday afternoon in their bar. The bar`s a bit devoid of atmosphere though. I recognised one of the staff on the docu that we got to know. He was lovely.
Kings Arms Woodstock for me, gness.....wouldn't mind going back to the Oxenham Arms or the Rock Inn in dave Devon country....there's the Nobody Inn too. Honiton and E. Devon, I do not know as well.
I don`t think the staff are over-attentive. The secret of a good staff is to be attentive but discreet. We did spend quite a lot of time talking to one manager but that`s because we got quite pally with him and I owe him a favour.
I'd like to be rich enough to stay one night for the experience. But in all honesty, I'm quite happy in the pub in sleaford when I go see my sister as the food is good and the rooms comfy. I'm pretty easy to please.
Last week was good .The Americans who had been coming there every year for God knows how long and they were a lovely couple .Then at the end they said she had passed away .It was quite sad .
I was given a 2 night stay at Claridges for my 21st. It was lovely and the staff were wonderful. I have been back twice to eat at Gordon Ramsay's (which I felt isn't his best but that's just my opinion!) and the staff are still as wonderful.
I've never been there, but it looks brilliant if you have £6500 a night to spend..... Last week they installed a spa bath especially for a particular guest. I'm lucky if the bath in my hotel room has a plug :-(
anne - you can pay nearly that for tea down here in Cornwall or in the Lakes....frightening.
I can remember baulking at £45 for breakfast in the Landmark 5 years ago, fortunately on a client's expense account set up for me......Room, bed and breakfast, laundry etc was actually more pricey there than staying in the Imperial in Tokyo from where I had flown in.......
