this little ten minute programme on channel 4 is often interesting, and does makes you think, however i wanted to see if Naomi or anyone watched last evenings contribution.
a chap was explaining how he believes Sharia Law is misunderstood here in Britain, that we only read or see the negative side to it.
he added that it should be law right across Britain, and indeed hopes around the world. I wondered if anyone watched it, if so what was your opinion of what he was saying.

I think you mean this, Em. These little programmes only run for about a minute, but they're usually interesting. http://www.4thought.tv/themes/what-does-sharia-law-have-to-offer-britain/ali-ridha-jaffer?autoplay=true Yes, I did see it – and, as an educated businessman, at first I thought he might have an intelligent take on Sharia, but...

if you look in Naomi and did see it, let me know..
I didn't see it but in any case there should be just one set of laws for the country. If there are suggestions for additional laws that are used elsewhere then whoever thinks they should be part of this coutry's laws should take it up with their MP. In the Commons adds it then it isn't Sharia or any other kind of law, it is just normal law for this country.

i think they have run a small series of those for and against, i only caught last evenings, and wanted to post it here. The bloke was very much for Sharia law in Britain, and the rest of the world.
he believes it will certainly be part of this country one day.

Yes, I did see it – and, as an educated businessman, at first I thought he might have an intelligent take on Sharia, but rather soon in I realised he didn’t. Anyone who can justify the chopping off of hands as a punishment should go and live somewhere where the law suits him better. We can do without adopting imported barbaric, bloody, backward laws into the UK. Makes me sick.
Question Author
wasn;t him, but same viewpoint.
Em, the programmes usually have a weekly theme with varying opinions each night, so you'll probably get an opposing argument tonight. This week's theme is 'What does Sharia Law have to offer Britain?' Looking at the website, it seems that, among others, there’s a gay Muslim lined up to put his point of view.
Question Author
one other i looked at is a chap who is a Muslim and homosexual, his views are obviously a good deal different. I am sure the one i saw was a different man, he wasn't suited and booted, more in traditional clothing...
i didn't get angry watching it, but confess that his outdated, sometime barbaric points would make a saint turn away.

crossed posts.. x
Wasn't him? Actually, I thought the bloke I'd watched last night was in Muslim dress - but when I looked at the website, I thought I must be mistaken. Wonder where he came from then? He doesn't appear to be listed.
Question Author
he was, and no i can't find it either. however this is one man i really despise, having seen him on endless programmes banging the gong, he has quite a history, not just as a good Muslim either...

//Muslims cannot obey any law apart from the law of the creator …. Islam cannot survive in a secular society.//

Can’t think what he means! Dangerous man!
Question Author
first time i saw this man was on a tv debate, he was ranting somewhat, his opinions are now well documented, known. I do think he is one of the most dangerous men in this country.
His earlier life, before he became a good Muslim, was one of partying, girls, booze, i have often wondered quite how he turned from a more secular life, ways to this.
Ambition? Leader of men? The saviour of Islam in Britain? Madman!
I saw it Em. Like you, I think that this 4though TV is usually thought provoking and interesting, and you can usually catch up with each vox pop segment on the C4 4 thought TV website.

WRT Sharia Law, i thought it interesting that the proponent was attempting to describe such Laws as beautiful, and that it was the natural order of things that mans activities and laws should be subordinate to gods will. The reality, that of courts and rulings based upon a theocratic interpretation of actions vs sanctioned behaviour from the koran, is a rather different and rather more chilling proposition.

I do wonder whether such an earnest proponent has seen some of the more violent outcomes of sharia law, with the seemingly casual lopping off of hands and heads, stoning to death, public hanging, etc. Or the ridiculously biased evidentiary requirements for a female rape victim to prove her case, or the fact that evidence from a female has less worth than that from a man - anywhere from 2-4 times, it would seem.

I will be interested to see the other views that will be expressed during the week...
Question Author
if you see any demo here by Muslim men, you will usually see him at the front, leading it. He was at the poppy burning incident, and similar protests. I believe he is a very dangerous individual. What i don't understand, is if he was born here, which i believe he was, why would he be so anti British now, and simply doesn't find a country that fits in with the ideals he is so keen on. Men like him want to change this country, Sharia law is already here, we know that, what next i wonder.
i do think the little programme interesting for all that, and will tune in again for more enlightenment !
Question Author
If he went to live in an Islamic country, he'd have no one to lead and he wouldn't be in the limelight. No chance of that. He wants a Muslim Britain.
Question Author
yes he does, why?
Control, power, subjugation? How can we expect to understand the workings of the mind of a madman?
Question Author
one that could be very influential, i do tend to agree that he is quite mad, but we have seen other madmen haven't we, who people follow, the mind boggles...
