They haven't been shown any good examples by the parents kids will rule the roost if they don't be disciplined it does make you cross to see they way the live irrespective of what money they have the could take an interest and clean their homes and stop smoking!

Too right, I have had to turn off, cos I was shouting at them, how ridiculous is that?
I don't understand why they are so scruffy when both parents have nothing else to do
Felt sorry for the junkie who couldn't see her baby though
Haven't watched it yet but if they were all clean, non-swearing, with well brought up children it wouldn't be on TV.

I'm afraid it all goes over my head.
When mine were little, they were a full time job.
And I'm ruddy sure kids haven't changed.
Totally agree Caribeing, if they spent less time sitting out in the street being depressed they might get around to sorting their surroundings out, that must make them feel worse living like that.
No matter how poor you are it doesn't cost much to be clean.

Point taken Sherrardk.
Ferlew, not having a go but all of these 'reality' shows depict the extremes - shows about fat people have hugely obese people on them, shows about badly behaved children have Tasmanian devils on them, shows about people on benefits have feckless idiots on them, etc, etc. They wouldn't get the viewing figures or media coverage otherwise (but I'm not saying there aren't some right feckless so and so's who are on benefits though).
Benefits Street is not much different to Sesame Street, both have a big bird, a bloke living out of a bin and people are trying to learn the alphabet

Thank you, I get it now....cash, cash, cash, at anyone's expense.
Wasn't it ironic Mark getting a job trying to get people to sign up to donate to charity when he could have been doing with a bit of charity himself, he had to quit as he didn't earn a penny!
Another reality show that I don't watch. If they make any more I can send my TV back. WHY are there so many. Antiques, celebrity jungle, cooking, skating, dancing, diving and J Kyle. Cheap TV I suppose.
we learn to be parents from our own parents. I felt very sorry for the children shown on this episode tonight :(
Anne, my mother taught me what sort of parent I didn't want to be :(
Me too sher:-(
and thankfully ladies , sometimes the circle is broken :)
Poor kids.
Amazingly, white Dee can't clean her house or raise her children properly or even soeqk to them civily, but has the time/money/inclination to sit on her fat arse smoking, with her nails varnished (arghhh - have been suckered in!!!).
Last week she told that little boy off for swearing ......
She's getting getting right on my wick. I don't are about the benefits bit, she acts like the 'mother' of the street and she is horrible to her kids.
