I didn't see the first series, but after reading how much it has been enjoyed here, I have been watching it for 45 minutes, and I have no idea what is going on.

I watched it for the first time last night and will contunue to do so. The problem for me was constantly thinking, 'What's she been in before? What's he been in before?'

There were some very familiar faces. I'm not sure that Mr Mosley cuts it as a CID officer. What a wimp!

I think that you definitely need to watch the first series before watching this second series. I loved last nights episode, although,mlike someone has already said, OH and I spent half of the time saying 'oooooo look who it is'. Actors from Coronation street, Emmerdale and Harry Potter featured, amongst others. Great show!

AOG - Catherine's son is played by the actor who played Robert in Emmerdale - before he transmogrified into the actor currently playing him

When the CID inspector woke up in the hotel after being drugged, he went back to sleep again, then woke up in his car looking rough and unshaven.

Then he is seen walking into the police station spruced up and shaven, have I missed something?

trt - It became obvious what had happened in the telephone call he took at home later.

Ah, I think I see....He will probably have kept an electric shaver in his car. A lot of CID officers have to spend nights in their cars, and make provision for that.
