Did anyone see the half-page piece about Ms. McCall in the Mail?

The Mail is somewhat unhealthily obsessed with women it sees as 'toned' or 'ripped', it's online sidebar features dozens of them every day - http://www.dailymail.co.uk/home/index.html

so it was thrilled to show a large picture of Ms McCall in a bikini showing her 'toned abs' blah blah blah.

The 'news piece' concerned Ms McCall's weepy social media message about 'lonliness' over Christmas and her fans' concern for her well-being.

So why does the Mail devote a half-page of its newspaper to a shouty TV presenter who looks like a nylon bag full of spanners? Because (and it mentions it of course!) she has a new exercise DVD on release that day!!!

We really do get the media we deserve.

She's just had break-up and it's not unusual to have a makeover in that situation. Anyway I like Davina, she comes across as a genuinely nice woman, particularly on long lost family.
I was going to say the break up could well be the cause of the weight loss. People don't break up over night and it's rarely a smooth ride.

Yes I seem to remember that thread, Andy seemed to have a particular obsession with bikini clad ladies, something about a collection if I remember.

Why he trawls the sidebar of the Daily Mail is anyone's guess, there is no one who posts from the Daily Mail web site more than I but I never notice the side bar.

I do believe for all his criticisms regarding the Mail, our Andy admits to having the paper delivered.
Was Davina a lady of the night ?

Just asking

//....I never notice the side bar...//

Yeah right

In a few days time it will be exactly a year since Andy Hughes posted what turned out to be a very popular thread on a similar subject, headlined:
/// Has Anyone Got Any Pictures Of Daisy Lowe In A Bikini? ///

/// I briefly scanned my DM this morning over breakfast, and I am pretty sure they printed a far less flattering pic of Ms. Lowe, comparing her with Emma Forbes, as The Sun did yesterday. ///

Baz - no, she used to be a drug addict.

Ellipsis - // So why does andy-hughes devote a question on AnswerBank to Davina McCall? So he can describe her as (in his opinion) a shouty TV presenter who looks like a nylon bag full of spanners. Classy. //

If you re-read my post, it is quite clear that the subject is not Ms. McCall herself, but the Mail's puff piece which devotes half a page to some guff about her fans being 'worried' about her - but it also just happens (!) to mention that her new DVD is released on that day.

That was the point I was making - it could have been about anyone, I just happened to see that story, and comment on it.

I am not sure what this has to do with the thread under discussion - ?

I can assure you, I do not have an 'obsession' at all.

If you recall, the Daisy Lowe thread was a sarcastic response to the Mail's publication of over twenty pictures of Ms Lowe on its website - I think if there is an 'obsession' - it lies there, don't you?

So that was just thrown in ... because?

You're a journalist, you know how these things work, please don't assume that others don't.

Why did you write "a shouty TV presenter who looks like a nylon bag full of spanners", if not to have a dig at the subject?
//You're a journalist, you know how these things work//

andy-hughes often doesn’t know ‘how these things work’, probably because he isn’t a professional journalist. He just pursues a hobby he enjoys that pays a little here and there.

You do love your little belittlings don't you - based on no factual information at all, just your sour attitude towards me personally.

But since I know my professional situation, and of course you know nothing about it at all, please allow me to enlighten you, and hopefully stop your personal digs at my professional status.

I am a professional music journalist, because I am paid for my talents and services, which to me covers the criteria of being professional.

I currently contribute regularly to seven international print publications, all of which pay well for my work - obviously the finer points are between myself, my editors, and my accountant and the IR, and nothing whatsoever to do with you - but be assured, it is not 'a little' as you disparagingly put it.

Hopefully this will end your nasty sniping on this subject once and for all.

I don't snipe at you because you *** about Islam for free do I?

Maybe you can extend the same courtesy and stop commenting on my personal business of which you know nothing at all.

Thank you.

I felt like it - which is the only reason you, I, or anyone needs to throw anything in.

It is not a matter of how anything 'works' based on my journalism or anything else, which is why I am not making any assumptions about anything.

My post is written as an AB'er - no hidden messages or assumptions, promise.
andy-hughes, //based on no factual information at all//

Not so. Based on what you've said.... unless of course that isn't factual.

I'm not willing to derail my own thread in pointless to-ing and fro-ing with you about my writing career about which you continue to post off-thread nasty comments, based on your ignorance and personal animosity.

I am asking you politely to desist - hopefully we can stop this exchange now and return to the OP.

Thank you.
