Did anyone see the half-page piece about Ms. McCall in the Mail?
The Mail is somewhat unhealthily obsessed with women it sees as 'toned' or 'ripped', it's online sidebar features dozens of them every day - http:// www.dai lymail. co.uk/h ome/ind ex.html
so it was thrilled to show a large picture of Ms McCall in a bikini showing her 'toned abs' blah blah blah.
The 'news piece' concerned Ms McCall's weepy social media message about 'lonliness' over Christmas and her fans' concern for her well-being.
So why does the Mail devote a half-page of its newspaper to a shouty TV presenter who looks like a nylon bag full of spanners? Because (and it mentions it of course!) she has a new exercise DVD on release that day!!!
We really do get the media we deserve.

i.e. I think you would have a much stronger moral claim when people make ad hominem attacks towards you, if you didn't make such attacks at the likes of Davina McCall ... //
I think you would have to agree that there is something of a difference here -
My throwaway observation about Davina McCall which was not aimed at her personally, and was part of a thread about the pointless puffing of the Daily Mail, doesn't really compare with direct attacks on me personally on the site on which I communicate - does it?
If you are suggesting that in order to defend myself from personal attacks from AB'ers, and have such defence approved of by you, then I must never say anything remotely hostile about any celebrity using national media to promote products for sale, then frankly, you are dreaming!

Would you rather somebody sniped about you behind your back, or said what they thought of you to your face?

At the risk of ticking you off big time I'm actually quite worried about your mental health Andy, you seem to latch onto something obsess about it and then if anyone calls you on it ramble at length and then attack them and start ordering them around. You posting style has got more and more aggressive in the 5 years I've been on here, and you seem angrier and angrier. Also regarding you being sure that your subject will never read this you can't be, she might vanity surf or she might be a member. There is at least one very well known celebrity on here who is a member, possibly more, so you are not in a position to possibly know that, so in that regard although it's not trolling in the strictest sense of the word, it's discoverable and unpleasant.

If someone is sniping behind my back, then by definition I have no idea about it, so I don't care.
If someone wants to say something to my face, my reaction will depend on what they say, and how much I care about it - and them.

And you apply the same principle in reverse ... saying things about people behind their back that you would never say to their face, happy in the sure knowledge that it would never come to their attention - and not really giving a monkey's if it did.
