Why on earth do the news programmes insist on broadcasting live from their encampments outside the Houses of Parliament, when we can't hear what is being said because it's drowned out by the shouting and bell-ringing of the flag-wearing morons? I just turn it off - I can't be the only one.

Rockrose - // Just because you don’t like it have you considered the housebound old person who loves watching the outside broadcasts because it makes them happy //

It's not 'an outside broadcast' - it's a reporter standing in the snow telling me that it's snowing.

I also don't need a reporter standing outside every day to confirm that the sun has risen!

It's the pointlessness of it, coupled with the fact that all the major station news broadcasts do it every year - why do they bother!!!!!
//I object to having my intelligence patronised. //

I doubt the reporter knows what intelligence you have and whilst freezing his nuts off doesn't give a fig as long as he gets his pay cheque.
I need to know, Andy, workmen need to know. If it doesn't happen then it's a bonus but we need to know the chances.
Turn it off then!
They are doing their jiobs it called reporting!
ummmm....that what a weather forecast (from a studio) is for...
//It's not 'an outside broadcast' - it's a reporter standing in the snow telling me that it's snowing.//

If it's not an outside broadcast and it's snowing I suggest they get their roof fixed.
And the gritters are only doing the main roads. There's been a few crashes near me already cars and a bus skidding on black ice.

The weather forecast takes 5'ish minutes...and I'd rather see where they're talking about than just hearing it.
I find them useful, I can check up if the weather somewhere is as awful as I’m being told by my MIL!
Ginge....my OH doesn't work anywhere near where we live, he also works outside. He will always look out the window but he wants to know the 'chances' of snow or ice (been wrong each forecast so far)
I understand the need for information, but putting someone outside in the snow and then filming them telling me it's snowing is not giving me information, it's giving me information with redundant pointless expensive images.

As I say every year - just tell me where it's snowing, I can do the rest. If it's snowing where I am, and I want to see what it looks like, I can glance out of the window, if I want the full effect, I can go and stand outside, I don't need a reporter on my tv doing it - it's completely pointless and really irritating.
has anyone noticed the number of upside down Union Flags there are outside the House of Commons this week?
Yesterday, a reporter standing in the dark at the spot where Philip crashed. Nothing to see at all. It's an unlit country road. Ridiculous!
and out of a bush popped an old old man who said

damned fool ! cant see the whites of their eyes ! that's why I smacked into them - bliddy fool!
Mr Hughes, achieving the great age of 64 has done nowt to blunt your bloody-mindedness in the face of overwhelming disagreement.

Have you considered participating in Northern Ireland politics as a hobby?
he might get snowed under, douglas
ummmm: Isn't that the point? If the forecasts are not reliable anyway, why put somebody outside to tell us fibs? My local town is on a hill. We can have thick snow in one area but nothing in another. Should there be an outside broadcast from each individual neighbourhood?

The ones that annoy me most are the ones avoiding giving too many details about a crime: "It was in a street much like this one where ..."
JF...so you can prep.
PP - flags. Yes it's all the people who are so patriotic but don't even know which way up to fly their own flag. Obviously never scouts or guides.
I suppose the flag design could be tweaked so there could be no right or wrong way to fly it leaving others to exercise their feelings of superiority elsewhere.

The best outside broadcast ... ever!!
