While flicking through the channels love island appears,my first experience of this,surely there is something wrong with our mentality in excepting this krapp on our screens,and yes I know that there is plenty of other channels to choose,but surely what kind of people watch this.

You, and indeed I - are clearly not the demographic that the programme makers are looking for - which is why it doesn't appeal.

That said, there is a seriously large demographic of younger viewers to whom this has massive appeal - they are the targets.

‘God help our younger generation’ is a sweeping statement typical of (generally older) people who think they were better in some way. If you don’t want to be labelled as an old fart, don’t make such ignorant statements.

Jordy, we all have to realise that programmes are made to draw in certain viewers and make money for the company.

Love Island is on it's fifth series and very popular.

There are other channels that stream golden oldies etc.

Agree Jordy, it's a load of carp and they are all as thick as pig **** !!! Definitely appeals to a lower mentality and all appearing on it just want their five minutes of fame. Signed A. Old Fart .. (and doesn't care).

I am sure my parents thought, and indeed said, exactly the same about 'our generation' when we were 'the younger generation' - I clearly remember being utterly mesmerised by Marc Bolan on Top Of The Pops, while my dad simultaneously approached dangerous levels of blood pressure while informing the household at some volume that Mr Bolan would benefit from a haircut and two years in the army.

Seriously, ZM, telly has changed a lot. Even the nature/history programmes I'm most likely to watch. It's not just one programme.

I too haven't ever watched it but they make the headlines anyway on Morning tv and news of FB etc, have no idea what it's about so can't really criticise it ( another old fart (:-( )
