Removing labels, shelf presentation, colour neutral , I was happy with a dolly dressed in pink, my brother loved his fort and soldiers,
Total stupidity !
Aye. When I were a lad we were content wi a Tangerine and a small bag of mixed nuts in our Christmas Stocking an we were not concerned who's nuts they were before us.
The best way to prepare for a new baby, is to stay awake for 48 hours, then try to get weetabix off a carpet, while kneeling on Lego:-). In my experience...
I’ve just googled Must Have Toys 2019 and can’t find anything labelled Gender Neutral. They’re all just things that any child might like.
Incidentally, did any of you ever receive a Must Have Toy? I never did, and I would never queue outside a shop at midnight to get my son a Must Have Toy. They’re forgotten about within days anyway, unless it was something you really wanted and not because it was a MHT.
Never received a must have toy but do know I spent hours and days traipsing about without success trying to get someone a cabbage patch doll (those were pre-internet days).
I am very much in favour of gender neutral toys. I've read a few research papers into how different toys can impact on children psychologically. Toys that are very female tend to focus heavily on physical appearance that perpetuate negative stereotypes about women's role in society. Very male toys tend to focus on fighting, aggression, noise etc.
I will never forget myself and my female cousin have the same birthday and her mum threw us a joint age 10 birthday party. There were two presents a gun and a doll. I grabbed the doll and she grabbed the gun LOLZ. Then my aunt made us swap them back - what do I want with a gun I want to comb my dolls hair LOL.
