After Life Series 2

I spent a couple of hours last night with tears crawling down my face. Tears of sadness, and tears of laughter. I've just read that Ricky Gervais has said, writing and directing the series, whilst immensely satisfying, is also daunting. He should try watching it! I only made it through the first four brilliant episodes before the emotional roller-coaster became too much. I'll most likely complete the series tonight.

Apparently celebrities were queuing up to get on 'Extras'. There is a very funny episode with David Bowie. Its on Netflix.

To me Ricky is a genius. He brought the Golden Globes to its knees back in January.

I liked the bit when he told all the assembled luvvies words to the effect,"Don't come on the stage when your name is called with all your gushing,dedications and thanks to uncle Tom Cobbly an all. Just take your award and Eff Off" Brilliant.

Just started watching series 2.

I can second (third?, fourth?) extras - it was perfect. I never really thought I liked RG as he seems smug and slimy, but actually I do!

I think many people felt he was smug and I guess slimy after his early successes but over the years he seems to have struck a cord with many people and he is far from it. He has a knack of making people laugh and cry at the same time and cares about his subject matters like the care home in Derek.

I saw him live at The Royal Albert Hall a few years back. Very near the knuckle but hilarious.

Stick with The Office if you can Naomi and also try Extras. They both get better as they progress.

You're not meant to laugh at The Office, you're meant to cringe, hold a cushion in front of your face, look again and cringe some more.

I've always liked him, stand-up as well. I didn't get further than the first episode of Derek, but maybe should try again.
Naomi, you might also enjoy "The Invention of Lying" if you haven't seen it yet.
