And a very nice man by all accounts, who suffered some terrible tragedies in his life.
so he was, fabulous and fascinating all in one go.
Love these re-runs of the Palladium shows, they bring back so many memories of the 50s and 60s eras.
Loved the Seekers tonight, I really fancied Judith Durham back then, what a beautiful voice and beautiful lady.
Orbison was a fabulous musician, able to channel all that grief and emotion into his voice when he sang.

I always appreciate any artist who clearly understands what he or she is singing about, and Roy Orbison was, and is, top of the class for that.
Met him briefly in the 60s. He was on his way to his press reception, I was press, and we were introduced in the lift!

But in that brief couple of minute meeting, he came across as a warm, self-effacing guy, who seemed genuinely pleased to meet some lowly oik of the British music press.

One of the good guys.
Absolutely love Talking Pictures TV!
