Lots and lots of programmes have people hugging each other, some lots of times. I was born during the war, and we never ever did this, what do folks on here think.? It gets on my nerves actually
I'm not a huggy person but will hug friends and family if they go to hug me. I'm always hugging little Tigs though and when they were alive I'd always be hugging Tigger and Blue (cats).
only my OH at the moment, though normally son and d-i-l would also get one each. I don't initiate hugging beyond that but am happy to respond to anyone who approaches me with open arms.
Peter Pedant "frigid lot
did no one hug their teddies or dogs?"
yes and I still do, and my family but I hate being hugged against my will. Worst ever hug was the wife of one of DH's work colleagues who wiped my face across her sweaty underarm.
I miss the hugs...the greetings hugs....the hugs when Mayo or Kerry score. The hugs to show you care.
A friend was in a psychiatric hospital near me. She ran away and came to my house. She stood in the doorway and said....You can take me back G. but I just need a hug.
For God's sake if you missed being hugged during this pandemic, then you must be very insecure .
I was born pre WW2 into a non tactile family but developed into a tactile, hugging person......but have I missed it?...naaah!
Hugging being therapeutic? Only if you are emotionally disabled.
I don't hug! For me its the best bit of the past year. I hate it especially with people you don't know well - same with that false air kissing and both cheek kissing. Having said that I don't like public shows of affection of any form.
Sqad - that's outrageous. Who wouldn't want to hug their children, grandchildren and closest friends? IMO it's those people who eschew hugs who have the emotional problem.
