Bbc4 Has Disappeared!

OK, maybe we are weird, but it is the major channel we watch. We also have a weird T.V. in that the people who set it up when we bought it on our return from France, seemed to tune to odd channels. E.g..BBC 1 is 56, ITV is 88, but we've got used to it.

BBC 4 was 35. Suddenly, not tonight it isn't! It's something called Diamond TV which isn't broadcasting anything.

I know that long term the Beeb were stopping BBC4, which is a massive blow, but not yet and the listings are in the papers. I've been watching the Simon Scharma re-runs and was really looking forward to it tonight.

We've looked through all the listings on our TV - twice - and no BBC4 is there.

Can anyone tell me if it is still around and what we need to do to find it again, please?

It is there on my tv. Channel 9, smart tv. Just checked for you. The Mistress.

Yes, BBC 4 is still around, and we have no problem getting it, but how you could solve your TV problem I really couldn't say. Best of luck, and I'm sure that you'll get some expert advice soon.

Well it won't help you but BBC Four HD is still showing on my Sky listings as Ch 116. Currently showing The Mistress and then Simon Shama at 9pm.

Can you retune your tv? It might come back.

Carry out a FULL retune of your TV set. (i.e. if you're given a choice between 'adding' channels or 'replacing' them, go for the latter option. The choice, if available, might be shown in a different manner but you need to look for an option which allows you wipe all existing memory data and start again as if the set was brand new).

just retune and it'll pick up what's about. BBC 4 is channel 9 on Freeview.

Thank you for letting us know it's still there. We're on Freesat.
Neither of us knows how to do a retune. We don't have Sky or anything other than terrestrial TV.

Any 12 year-olds handy and at a loose end?

Gromit - that's very , very kind of you, but I'm afraid you might as well be speaking Aramaic to us. We don't know where to start with all that. I can't see a button saying Apps on the TV and 'streaming' belongs to another world. Thanks anyway. When I can get hold of someone who understands these things I will tell them. Very kind of you. :)

On my remote the key to press has a little house on it. Pressing that brings up all options of catch up.

. We have lost BBC2, BBC3,BBC4,and BBC news (24hrs.). Apparently it is because we have a Bush SD Freesat box and will have to upgrade it to an HD top-set box before early 2024.Don't remember the exact date

What programmes are listed in the programme guide for channel 35?

Such a lot to go at! Thanks to all. We don't have a box, it is apparently inside the set. Model LB58 LED TV.
Ubasses, all of you, we'll have a go at it all. So unsettling when you are not technologically inclined. We had to buy a CD player because the TV one was so complicated.

BBC 4 is 108 on Freesat, try that.
