I love the films Betty Blue, Ameile and Delicatessen (think that is the correct spelling). Can anyone recommend some films in a similar style that I should try?

Try "The City of Lost Children" ("La Cit des Enfants Perdus") it's by the same people who made "Delicatessen", and is even wierder, but I think it's better.
i was going to say city of lost children. fantastic film. or the big blue (french version) la grande bleu.
La Haine is a good film. It's in black and white even though it was made in 1995. I liked Un sac de billes (1975) too and On connat la chanson (1997) made me laugh. Although the ending is very weird.
try 'he loves me he loves me not' or is it she loves me.........cant remember but it was a great film! not the same style of film but irreversable is worth a peek
Try Les Diaboliques (1955)...but stay clear of the 1996 American remake and also give Subway (Christopher Lambert) a go. Theirs also Cyrano de Bergerac, although (now keep this quiet) I prefered Steve Martin in Roxanne

Thanks all. Now have some good veiwing for the easter weekend. Cheers
You could also try Jean de Florette and its follow up Manon du Source. There's also La Retour de Martin Guerre (it was remade as Sommersby but the French version is better), and if you can sit through several hours - Le Comte du Monte Cristo. A great comedy to see is Beaumarchais. And if you like really hard going and extreme films I recommend Irreversible - not for the fainthearted. Hope that helps
