They probably think that what they are wearing really are their best togs! I once read a survey in which some women said that they would attend a wedding (or similar occasion) in their "designer jeans". I'm not sure what designer jeans look like, but all jeans look the same to me. Standards of dress (along with a lot of other things) have changed over the years, and if I wear a tie nowadays some people give me a second look.
more importantly, why go on a quiz show when you have so little general knowledge. My grandkids could answer a lot of the questions that seem to stump them
I watch a few of them. the Chase, Perfection (on my days off) eggheads and the weakest link. They have some outstanding quizzers on them but some real thick ones as well. I'm not the sharpest knife in the box and even I can answer most of them. dont they have a selection processes on these quizzes?
thats a shame bookbinder, which show was it? I would have thought that they must ask some basic general knowledge questions before letting you loose on the TV
did they ask you a selection of question at the audition squarebear and what was it like, how well did you do? If I was braver I think I might like to do The Chase
mazie, I really don't remember the name of the show. It was something to do with a spelling contest, but I was in my teens. I'm now 71, so I'm afraid that that's a brush with fame that has just floated away. But I can still spell real good.
I think they like you to be 'photogenic' as well. I went for an interview for 15 -1 and didn't get on either. You had to play a practice round and those that got two questions right out of three were chosen although if you gave a reasonable answer even if wrong some got through.
Basically, the 15-1 audition played a few mock games and 3 or 4 people from the TV company scored how well you did. I must have done ok as they asked me to be on it in 1998. I was on it again in 1999. Great fun and I would recommend it to anyone.
Fluff, let us know when its going to be screened, I love a man in a Kilt. Good luck to your Dad as well.
Are you squarebear....I'm so tempted. They are advertising for it now, I might go and have another look. let me know when you apply squarebear. If its based on being photogenic, I don't think I stand a chance !
lol scotman, that's a very good point but there always seems to be one than one thicko on the ones I watch
I have, however, appeared on TV, mazie. In 2004 I was interviewed on BBC Look North, but not because I passed a selection test. I just happened to be there, and a young woman asked me a couple of questions. The BBC must have thought that I performed OK, because they repeated it a few days later. I haven't got a TV set, so I never saw how I came over on screen.
