I vaguely remember watching a drama miniseries when I was a kid which was about the history of the USA. I'm pretty sure this must have been around the time of America's bicentenial in 1977. I don't remember very much about it apart from the Civil War and I think it traced a family through the years. Does anyone know what I'm talking about?

Definitely wasn't North and South but thanks

Not Roots either, been watching that recently which is what reminded me of this other one. I also remember when it went to the adverts there was the image of a bald eagle, might have been a silver dollar.

I think that's it! Thank you, it's been bugging me for years!
