Trying to recall a television series from my childhood. This would have been in the late sixties or early seventies. Can't say if it was American or British and the only clue I've got for you is that every episode started with the hero listenig to his new assignment on a cassette tape which always ended with the words "this tape will self-destruct within thirty seconds" - something along those lines. Driving me crazy!

TIA (back tonight to say thanks to anyone who's been able to put me out of my misery, as it were:)

I'm now into the tennis + a bit of footie now and again.
I've been to school and my youngest has been this afto for a cuppa and would you believe the table is still waiting to be put together. Think I'll have a go myself tomorrow. Kids can be awkward sometimes can't they!!
wow, give me a backhander, Jude!
Int he luvly!!

A table might be one of the few things from IKEA one could assemble all by oneself Jude. But when you're done it will be lying face down on the floor won't it, and then what do you do, how do you turn it around all by yourself. Or is it just a very small one?

IKEA. They don't miss a niche do they http://i46.tinypic.com/1etitk.jpg
It's a square dining table Kit. (105 cm) I'm fed up of seeing this cardboard flat pack up against the wall. I bet I'll have go myself this week and then I'll lose my patience. I'm hopeless at stuff like that.
I was going to do it tomorrow but I wont have much time.
Been to school today and there is a little Polish boy who has been teaching me Polish.
When we come across a word he doesn't understand I explain then he tells me it in Polish, spells it and waits for me to say it. He makes me laugh.
In my world Jude the average waiting time for jobs to be done is 2-3 years so if anything gets done sooner it's a bonus. That's how long it took my oldest to jet-wash the patio, plus the knowledge he was leaving the country & wouldn't be called upon again immediately.
Why not set up a webcam & let Vinny talk you through the table assembly?...we'll shout things like 'Left a bit, right a bit, hit it!' and give you marks for creativity when it turns out to be a dog kennel. :o)
Have patience, I'll send you some cosmic heyulp.

No rain here yet.
grrr...if I go back to the pie shop by mistake once more... :o/
Been meaning to ask you Jude, what happened to your friend who used to pop in & see us from time to time? Maggie wasn't it?
Question Author
That's a very good question from Headmistress right there Jude, how is Maggie, I liked her. To be honest Robi is better at recalling names than I am, but I remember she was good fun:) She had a dog I think? (Have you noticed dogs and sons and armwaving are overrepresented amongst the biddies:)

After months of listening to you lot going on about Luther... it starts here on Thursday, yay! G'night all!
ooh, dirty work afoot in the West Country...

Mornin yokels.
tis overcast with a drop off devon mist (light rain):O)Poor girl jno....I blame it on King Athelstan who set the border between Devon and Kernow in 963AD.How was she to know..!(:O)jude...make sure you use wood glue between each joint. And if you bought it from ikea...buy some six inch nails to..!
Morning ☼...not necessarily good..

Oh, off with her crown & her head, how dare she enter at 27, almost an oap, tut.

Did anyone get a storm? They did in the Nottm area but not here, it might have cleared the air & washed off some of this pollen, it's choking now...and it might have prevented the headache I woke up with. Charlie's hobbling on one of his back legs...and there was a dead pigeon covered in ants in the hedgerow first thing (that put you off your Mivvi's didn't it?)....I don't like dead anything, I thought about sending for my sister, she's in the funeral business, haha.....apart from that all is deep joy.

Oh, for the fashionistas...neti take note, your shorts are so last season...I learned this morning that these are the big(?) thing now...

(yes, they are named after Margaret 'Hotlips' Houlihan)

oh yes, I'll look fab in those...when are crimplene slacks gonna make a comeback?
Morning all, my shorts are so not last season, they are at least 20 yrs old, and the "new" ones I was wearing in USA in 1999!!!

Kernow, vinny , I haven't heard that since 1980 when we left Truro!

Afternoon is it. Seems hot and stuffy around the clock here, still, better than ice.

You won't believe this Robi but a couple of years ago my eldest sis wanted to be in the funeral business too. Somebody at her job quit and went to work for a funeral company as a... counsellor? don't know what the word would be but you see what I'm getting at. Sis hates her job (or rather the situation there) and yearns for meaningfulness in her day's work and I think for quite a while she was hoping her old work mate would be able to sneak her in. But it never happened and sis isn't young anymore, it's not easy to get a new job through the ads. It's a shame, she's a great person, wasted on the morons she works for today. More than anything else she'd like to work with animals - living animals rather than dead people ha ha.

Howsitgoing with that table, Jude, you need some background music?

oh yes, we had a little rain here, but only at night, like in Camelot. Silly thing is, now we have our drains, the strips of lawn above them are looking dry as all water drains away from them, while the rest of the garden is left looking lush. But if it dries up the flooding, that's all I need.

Oh, are shorts getting tighter now?

well Vinny's seem to be jno....

Yes, it's a worthwhile job if you can handle it Kit..sis doesn't tell me much, but it's hard sometimes, especially when it's a child. And her husband's in the prison service, I don't know how the pair of them sleep, haha.

Yes neti, I've got items in my wardrobe that are older than some people on this site. Actually I've got a couple of things (probably valuable) that were my mum's. A silk all in one camisole/camiknickers thingy & a 40s(?) sheer top with pearl buttons. I used to fit into them but I doubt I do now, she was a munchkin, haha.
Hi all
Lovely day again .Very hot .Heavy shower of rain earlier which has done zilch .
Your table sounds like my knitting Jude .
The jumper I have taken about three months to knit is finished and I delayed sewing it up . Sewing not being a strong point with me .I did sew it up but sewed one sleeve in the wrong way round .It's now in a cupboard and there it will stay for the foreseeable future :)
Clouded up again now ...bugger .....

Guess your sis and B-I-L aren't believers in the saying "You shouldn't put people in boxes" Robi ha ha ha ha ha...

Been there done that, Shaney.
Well I never get a round tuit these days. I've just ordered a book from amazon which will no doubt sit gathering dust along with the other 100 waiting to be read.
I used to be the sewer-upper* amongst my knitting friends, no one seemed to be able to do the most important bit and the stapled look only caught on with the punk brigade.

*erm, that's sewer as in stitching, not sewer as in poo-pipe :o)
Found a use for Shaney's jumper

http://static.mtv.co.uk/What The Funicular/amywinehousearmwtf.jpg

My arms used to do this, (turn round the wrong way). They have now stiffened with age and only turn half way round.

Had rather a nice day. Went to see a friend for a coffee and she suggested we go to the pub by the river instead and then she treated me to lunch!!! Then went to see another friend and have just got home!!

Beautiful day here after a few spots of rain this morning.

Shaney, I will email you this evening - promise!!

Love to you all!! x
