I am teaching my sister to drive and she has no insurance. Is she covered through me or should she have insurance of her own just in case?
Thanks

she should be on your insurance as a named driver,if not you both can be prosecuted and both receive points and a fine.
It is the car that is insured for certain drivers to drive. She may already be included according to what you paid for on your policy. Ring your insurance company to make sure she is insured on your policy, or find out how much to add her on. As Norman says, the consequences are serious, so check rather than guess.
It would be a very rare insurance company that included unnamed learner drivers on the policy.

She should be named on your insurance policy, as Normanthedo says.

It will increase the cost of your insurance.
