hi all, my insurance policy is up at the end of the month, my renewal has gone up a staggering 55% with the company i'm with and i think its ridicolous. i've done numerous quotes online and all the prices are between £1000 and £2000 and some are more.
my renewal price is just shy of £600 (almost double).
does anyone know a good site to get a competitive price as i have 9 years bonus, have driven for 11 years with no accidents.
all i want is a good price with good excess fees (just incase) as i think £550 plus are stupidly high excess fees.
any sites or companies would be great.
i have tried, e-car , more than, compare the market, confused, elephant, admiral and the list goes on...

i drive an audi a3 sport.
i will try egg and see what they come up with.
derek, there was a news report by a few months ago that a local man had been jailed for causing 94 accidents so he could claim whiplash, it doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure out that no one can make 94 claims in 2 years also it should have been aware to insurance companies way before this amount...

wilkesneil - The fraudster in the "cash for crash" conspiracy you mentioned did not make the claims; he drove the 93-plus cars and caused the collisions for which each of the car owners claimed.

This type of insurance fraud appears to be endemic in the North West...

"Although the number of accidents on Britain's roads has thankfully been falling, the cost of repairing cars has been rising at a rate of between 7 and 10%."
"Added to that, the number and value of personal injury claims being made following car accidents have been rising. Many people who may not have bothered to make a claim for minor or even non-existent injuries in past accidents are being encouraged to do so by unscrupulous accident injury claim lawyers."
"Insurers have been making huge underwriting losses – some estimates suggesting that for every £1 taken in premiums £1.22 is being paid out in claims. The losses have been made worse by poor investment performance and the weak pound, so insurer reserves are running on empty."

Insurers are detecting more fraudulent insurance claims than ever according to figures released by the ABI. Last year over 2,000 dishonest insurance claims worth more than £16 million were detected every week.

It's interesting that insurance companies blame the people making false claims and their loss in profits for the increase in premiums. Admiral Insurance had record profits in 2009 judging by this BBC article: http://news.bbc.co.uk...outh_east/8544715.stm
This year my car insurance when up from £400 odd to £600 odd, that's with no changes and an extra year no claims discount. It's legal theft really. I can understand paying more in terms of inflation and everything, but it's absolutely ridiculous. Much like the banking scandal, it's another money industry whereby the honest people get ripped, and those without a conscience - be they the insurance scammer or the insurer with ridiculous premiums, profits greatly.

Insurance premiums are calculated on several factors. wilkesneil. The value of the car is one, as is it's attraction to thieves. Another factor is the area you live.
I agree with mdoo98. The Fully Comp. insurance on my VW Golf has only increased by a few pounds per year for the last few years. About 5 years ago it was £90.15 for the year. Last year it was £136 and I renewed in May for £146 (£2.80 per week) so it's only gone up by £10 this year. I think the main problem is the fact you've got an Audi A3.
