Motorway Magnets!

Just returned from Blackpool, do you know that the Government has issued instructions that the Motorway Middle lanes "MAGNETS" are to remain in force to help them bloody idiots not to run off the Motorways.

If you go past them on the inside it increases the magnetic force on the left hand side and pulls them into the inside lane.

Ah TWR you must be one of those people who also sit in middle lane flashing headlights at cars infront therefore using the magnets yourself eh!!!a driver who feels it is his right to bully people out of the way !!! do you drive an audi, bmw or a merc by any chance??

I would hope he does the same as myself who overtakes legally in lane 3 then cuts back sharply to lane 1 it usually has the desired effect as the middle lane hogger moves into lane 1 where he should have been in the first place!!

Lozzer, I have no need to do that as the majority of Motorways have 3 Lanes have you not noticed? Accidents do not happen on a Motorway it is caused by people that do not know how to use them! Example, Stuck in middle lane idiots.

I have always said that there should be a 2 part driving test, the first part as now but then a second part that has to be passed before you can drive on a motorway. Instructors now just get you past the test, when I learnt back in 1971 my instructor took me on a dual carriage way , built to motorway standards but nor designated as a motorway.
He told me I had to do 70 mph all the way , overtake slower traffic correctly and use the correct lane. This should be compusory before you are allowed to drive on a motorway. The present situation is stupid, you have never driven outside a town centre and never been over 30 mph but as soon as you have the pass certificate you can do 70 straight down the M25 !

That's exactly what I did Eddie, a few days after I passed my test took myself on the M25. Had no idea, what I was doing, nearly wet myself and managed to get off at the next junction and I've since felt the same way as you do about having some compulsory motorway lessons.

Have you not heard what some bright spark has come up with now Eddie? allowing "L" Drivers on the Motorway, they were talking about it on Radio 4 last Frid they also asked the opinion of the Road Haulage Industry spokesmen what they thought! what do you think?

By the way Lozzer, I do drive a German car you describe, I stop for elderly people that try & cross the road, I stop for Parents with prams to cross the road, I have also got out of my car + HGV to assist blind people to cross the road, you see, never judge the book by looking at the cover! do you understand that Or do you need further explanation?

L drivers on the motor way are fine BUT ONLY ! as long as they are being supervised by a qualified instructor. ( a profesional instructor NOT just another driver ) As I just said Motorway driving instruction should be compusory .

Just been to Nottingham today, down the M1. South of the Chesterfield turnoff it's 4 lanes. Guess what? Idiots sat in the middle two lanes of four. Both lanes doing the same speed. The mind boggles.
