Can anyone advise me how to clear a greasy windscreen, please. I've tried neat washing up liquid, white spirit and several other things with no luck. It's got so I can't see out very well, especially at night when it's raining.

Please help with any tips.

Many thanks.

Hopkirk, it's not the case that I refuse to buy wiper blades, it's the case of I can't afford to replace the wiper blades until there really is no choice. I am asking for advice so that I can try different things before I have no option but to change them.
From your description of the problem, I would suggest you have reached that point.
What car is it Angleflame ?.
Question Author
If I had an old Fiesta, I could get wiper blades in Poundland, but I haven't.

I have a Renault Scenic and the blades, as I said, are about £30 each. I would rather try and solve the problem in other ways before I have to fork out £50-60 on wipers.
Think you're paying a little over the odds for wiper blades...

thanks everyone. I am only going on what the local spares shop said they were. That's not so bad then.

I will give the meths ago and if that doesn't work, I will shop around for some new blades.

Thank you all so much for your sound advice and help. It's much appreciated.
Fairy liquid does mine, wipe on leave for an hour, then use your wipers and screenwash to clear. If you change them put fairy liquid on screen before you use wipers,a lot of people make the mistake of using them on a dry screen.

I tried the Fairy Liquid, but it didn't work for me. Thank you.
my son-in-law has a Scenic and it does have the expensive type blades i believe the correct term is 'aero blade' i got them trade (aftermarket) for about £7.50 + vat each and they work & fit fine.
