what are the other things that are being put up slightly in front of the gatso speed cameras? grey with what looks more like a floodlight than a lens, also has a small antenna on the top? just wondered if they are some sort of anpr cameras. thanks in advance

Baz, some peeps don't like getting done for speeding, these are suggested ways of disabling speed cameras, or so I have heard/read somewhere, can't remember where, honest Guv!

bottom line is don't trust any of the bloody things. the technology is incredible now. you have no idea what's on the gantries over the motorways these days either

I believe that they are additional illumination – lighting the number plates of those travelling at faster speeds, that would otherwise not be decipherable from the captured image, especially in conditions of poor visibility (heavy rain, mist etc).

Maybe they are cameras to catch anyone physically interfering with the Gatso With the torching of many gatsos they would soon pay for themselves.
