As I recall, the front doors opened the opposite way to cars these days, and I think they had a running board.
Ducksie A mate of mine does the classic rounds he has the delux, had a full respray in gold, lovelyhe won't let me drive it though, my dad had a Zodiac now that was a motor.
Ferlew, bit of a sod to change the plugs on the Javelin as I remember.

VW van with flowers on...then I got a licence and had a Ford Anglia which was less scary for the instructor......☺
Derek para, I can't think what you mean :-)
A Reliant three-wheeler, and they hadn't got fancy model names like 'Robin' in those days. Why? Because you could drive one at 16. Originally you had to have the reverse blanked off , because it was regarded as a motorcycle, and bikes didn't have reverse, but that rule was relaxed.

Yes they were, D. Flat four engine, awkward to work on.

And yes you are right about them having suicide doors, ferlew.
magicmick, in it's heyday, my dad didn't let me drive it either, but I still learned to drive in it, great car - I'm not into the mechanics or anything of them, but when I see it ...I just think...I once drove that

I can't help but think ignore Derek para's comment

VW van with flowers on..

bloody hippies lol.
A Zodiac, eh ? Like the Zephyr, in that you could stand and watch it rust ! But plenty of cars rusted quickly in those days. The Vauxhall Velox was another and so was the Austin Healey 3000.

The old saying about Fords was that they were good in a straight line! Around bends, the handling wasn't so good. Think that was still being said of the Zodiac
You are right FP43, the Anglia and the Zodiac both ended up scrappers, did they call them the Dagenham dustbins? The bench seat at the front was brilliant though, along with the column change? :-)
